::This was the District Officers house. Built around 1900 it housed a representative from the British Colonial Office in Singapore. The D.O. was among other things... Postmaster, Magistrate and Protector of Chinese. Today the building is still known as the D. O. By the local Malays and houses an historical display of the years of phosphate mining. Well worth a visit.
